1. Overview of the High-End CNC System Industry Development
A CNC system, short for Numerical Control System, is a specialized computer system that executes some or all numerical control functions based on a control program stored in the computer's memory. It is equipped with interface circuits and servo drive units. It uses digital instructions composed of numbers, letters, and symbols to control the actions of one or more pieces of mechanical equipment. It typically controls mechanical quantities such as position, angle, and speed, as well as switching quantities. The CNC system is a core key component of CNC machine tools.
High-end CNC systems possess more powerful performance and richer functions to achieve complex motion control of various types of high-end CNC machine tools. They are the "brains" of high-end CNC machine tools and are the key components with the most core value. They have always been important strategic resources, strictly controlled by developed countries, and are prohibited from being sold abroad or having their full functionality opened. High-end CNC systems typically consist of a control unit, a drive unit, a motor unit, and a sensing unit to form a complete closed-loop control system. The corresponding technology is complex and will directly affect important parameters such as the precision and dynamic characteristics of high-end CNC machine tools. High-end CNC systems should have the following obvious technical characteristics: 1) Ability to control complex machine tools, represented by five-axis linkage CNC machine tools; 2) Support for various equipment configurations, including dual drives, parallel mechanisms, and robots; 3) Core algorithms support efficient and smooth processing; 4) Full-power range servo drive support, maximum support of 1000A; 5) A variety of control motors, including servo drives, torque motors, servo motors, and spindle motors, with weak magnetic field capability supporting car-milling composites and electric spindles; 6) Adjustable power factor of the matching power supply, with active feedback function. Systems with the above characteristics include Siemens 840D from Germany, Fanuc 30i from Japan, and the GNC series CNC systems from KODNC.
2. Market Conditions and Future Trends
High-end CNC systems account for approximately 20%-40% of the cost of high-end CNC machine tools. Currently, domestic high-end CNC systems mainly rely on imports from abroad. However, the functions of foreign high-end CNC systems are often not fully open or are even prohibited from being exported to China, thus making China's high-end CNC machine tool industry dependent on foreign countries. With the support and guidance of national policies, a small number of domestic enterprises engaged in the research and development of high-end CNC systems have emerged and achieved partial domestic production, but their market share is less than 10%.
